The Colombian singer was one of the artists who performed during the intermediate show at the Democratic Party event where Barack Obama was present.
This Monday during a Democratic Party event held in Las Vegas, J Balvin was in charge of one of the intermediate shows. The former President of the United States, Barack Obama, did not miss the opportunity to praise the artist: “Who does not love J Balvin and reggaeton”, he said.
J Balvin confessed what Obama said to him: He told me that “he loved music, that what he was doing for Latinos was really great. That he was a fan”, said the singer. Balvin was also amazed and felt humble about the fact that he got mentioned during the former President’s speech. Obama traveled to Las Vegas to speak at a campaign rally to discuss economic growth, campaigning for Nevada Democratic candidates.
Born in Medellin, Colombia, the reggaeton and urban music singer has collaborated with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Major Lazer, and Sean Paul. Despite working with many English-speaking artists, J Balvin continues to sing almost exclusively in Spanish, hoping to introduce Spanish-language music to a global audience. The singer still lives in his hometown of Medellin, staying connected to his roots and his people.
